" What will you tell your ten year old self when they look at you in the mirror one day? Will they be proud? Ashamed? Who have you become?"

POEM OF THE MOMENT

Every now and then I will post a poem or prose I wrote that I feel like sharing. Many of the poems I will post here can be found under my name at Poetry.com. If you feel I have  infringed your rights somehow please feel free to contact me to get that sorted out right away.

A midsummer’s dawn, inspired by Shakespeare

Titania and Oberon danced till dawn’s light

Hand in hand all through the night

Forgetting the odd dreamy events of the eve

While Puck and the faerie train did leave

The dawn’s light broke in a purple haze

Washing gently o’er the couple’s gaze

Their feuding on hold

          Returning a love so bold

To call a truce for passion’s sake

Reaffirming vows true love did make

And Puck the merry wanderer of night

Is tucked into bed during dawn’s light

So Oberon with his Queen did go

To watch the sun rise at the rooster’s crow

Hand in hand at last

A knowing glance forgives the past

And all at once the world is restored

Guess tonight mischievous Puck shall be bored!

Ode To Summer

Warmed straight to the bone,
Sunglasses on to stop the squinting.
Laughter, giggles, shrill
Screams of joyous children.
Sprinklers on lawns
Wet the sidewalks and passers-by.
Splashing in pools and rivers
By people and dogs alike
Make for a perfect summer day.
The evening shade is for looks,
Staying warm well into the night.
Playing loud, happy music,
Dancing to the smell of a barbeque.
Maybe a little wine,
Maybe a beer or two.
Gazing at the stars, looking at
Something looking back at you,
Makes for a perfect summer night.

The Token

A thousand eyes live a thousand lives

And know what love can do

A million smiles walk a million miles

          So love can start anew

Finite and fickle if tears start to trickle

          Hearts are easily broken

Strong and unending love is mind-bending

Leaving a scar as a token

Live passionately

Laugh so hard your eyes swell with tears

          Humor feeds a hungry soul

Live in a house that has seen many years

Just to add to those unspoken stories

Love so much it makes your soul sing

As many times as you possibly can

Let yourself be loved and to love cling

And try to make it last forever

Learn to weather hurricane and earthquake

That which is nature is divine

Live passionately if for only passion’s sake

And never let the fire in you die
